You CAN’T Sell a House Without Kitchen Photography

You may be able to skip showcasing every detail of your home in an online listing, but as Photoplan writer Jenni explains, some aspects are simply non-negotiable when it comes to promoting your property…

I often browse property marketing websites. Not only do I gather content for this blog, but I’ve also moved twice within the last year. Plus, I have a genuine passion for real estate.

So, I consider myself well-equipped to critique property listings – and today, I stumbled upon something I find inexcusable – an advertisement for a stunning detached country house missing a picture of the kitchen!

The Impact of Kitchens on Property Sales – It’s widely acknowledged that kitchens can either make or break a property sale – so the omission of this crucial space is baffling.

Admittedly, I can’t afford the home in question and I’m not planning to move anytime soon, but the absence of information and visuals about this essential room was enough to deter even my daydreaming house-hunting self from the listing – imagine the effect on those genuinely searching.

The Emotional Connection to the Heart of the Home

The kitchen is often referred to as the heart of a home, and it’s a known fact that successful property brochures and listings appeal to a buyer’s emotions as well as their practical needs – making interior photography of this room vital.

Even a high-quality image of a less-than-perfect kitchen is preferable to no picture at all. Trust me, my own home came with a 1970s plastic-clad disaster – but because I was prepared for it when I viewed the property, I didn’t flee in terror…
