Virtual Tours Offer Armed Forces Personnel the Chance to See Home this Christmas

As the advent countdown commences, one company offering 360 virtual tours has launched an initiative to help bring a boost to troops stuck out in the field over the festive season.

The Tour Wrist virtual tours app has launched its “Gather ‘Round Your Troops for the Holidays” initiative and is encouraging family, friends and well wishers to create their own 360 virtual festive greetings for soldiers, sailors and airmen and women whose duty sees them spending the holidays away from home.

Technology Created for 360 Virtual Tours Sending Troops Seasonal Support

Using 360 virtual tour technology, well wishers will be able to create web clips bringing the spirit of the season to service personnel overseas.  Greetings can be self shot using digital cameras or mobile phones with the relevant accessories and apps, or groups may wish to use the services of a professional photographer to help them put together a slick seasonal shout out.

Once the holiday themed images have been captured, well wishers will be able to upload them to the Tour Wrist website for free, where troops with internet access will be able to view them wherever they are in the world.

Virtual Tours an “Excellent Medium” for Boosting Morale

Speaking to The San Francisco Chronicle, TourWrist founder and CEO Charles Armstrong explained: “While virtual tours are great for viewing hotel rooms, homes for sale and restaurants, they’re also an excellent medium for heartwarming holiday greetings […] Imagine ‘teleporting home’ to immersive 360º holiday greetings from loved ones.”
