Of course we recommend you always turn to a professional photographer for your house listing images, virtual tours and property brochure needs, and YES we will do our very best to help your property shine in a competitive housing market.
But before you pick up the phone to book your shoot you need to be sure you are really going to get the best possible return on your investment – which means that you need to be sure that you are calling at the right time and for the right reason!
With this in mind we’ve put together a list of three BAD reasons to contact a professional property photographer, with explanations of how some choices could hinder your chance of a home sale and what you should be doing instead to ensure that your property shoot gives you the biggest bang for your buck!
1: “I’ve not got time to get my house looking great, a property photographer will be able to cover that up.”
While we will ALWAYS shoot your home in the most favourable way possible, a little be pre-photography prep from the homeowner can make a HUGE difference. We aren’t talking a full interior redesign here, just a coat of neutral paint where necessary, and a bit of elbow grease throughout. Before you book your shoot, make sure your home is in the best state it can be on your budget – and we will put all our skills to work to help you hook a house hunter!
2: “I’ve invested a fortune in eyecatching interior design to help push a sale, the photographer can showcase that!”
We ADORE amazing interiors and, if you can afford a total new look and want to go for it, then by all means do so. But this isn’t necessary before you bring in one of our professional property photographers. Our photographers are skilled at getting the very best out of your interiors so simply making sure they are clean and bright before we begin will be enough. However, if you want to have a few choice design props (ornaments, throws, flowers) on hand on the day of the shoot this can help with staging spaces.
3: “I’m planning to put my house on the market soon and want to have the images ready to go.”
Planning ahead is great, but we would recommend you have a gameplan in mind before planning property photography. Whether you are planning to self sell, or will be opting for an estate agent it is helpful to know who your target audience is and how the exterior and interior images shot will be used (online, in print brochures, etc.) before we begin. You may also wish to take advantage of the other services we offer, such as the creation of 360 virtual tours or the drawing of accurate floor plans – have your marketing plan in place before you book and we can help you with all of these in one easy visit.
